Randy was born on Pearl Harbor Day December 7, 1949 to parents Harry E. Swift and Pauline E. Bushinger. They lived in Lynwood California. In 1962 the family moved to Gold Hill Oregon . Randy attended Crater High School in Central Point.
Like many who came of age in Gold Hill , Randy spent warm summer days swimming in the Rouge River and joining an adventurous group who answered the challenge of diving and swinging from the Gold Hill Bridge. It was here that he would meet his future wife and lifelong partner Paula M. Algeo.

Randy then went to work for his Father in-law at Bergmans Shop in Medford. He learned his trade well and eventually became owner of Bergman's Shop which was one of the oldest businesses in Southern Oregon. While most of us buy the things we need , Randy on the otherhand would make the things he needed. Of course that was his special skill, to make and fix things for people who came to his business. One of his most well know customers was Jay Leno who needed some custom work done on one of his classic cars.
Randy enjoyed life in Oregon and had a wide range of interests. He loved all things mechanical, cars, boats, tractors, Quads, Snow Mobiles and RVs. He enjoyed camping with friends and family. After Retirement He and Paula became Snow birds, spending the winter months in Arizona.
